Our Case Studies

Case Study I: Scaling SME Infrastructure

Retained by an international IoT technology firm to design and implement a scalable corporate financial and employee benefits framework during a period of rapid commercial expansion.
As the technology firm scaled, the absence of a cohesive corporate benefits architecture became a systemic drag. Fragmented legacy setups and a lack of standardized risk benefits were creating compliance friction, threatening talent retention in a highly competitive sector, and demanding disproportionate executive time.
Operating as the firm’s corporate financial adviser, I engineered a standardized, scalable benefits framework encompassing workplace pensions and group medical insurance. I managed the end-to-end implementation, aligning the architecture directly with the firm’s corporate accountants and delivering commercial financial education sessions to the workforce to drive structural adoption.
Delivered a robust, fully compliant corporate financial architecture. The framework secured key talent, entirely removed administrative and compliance friction from the C-suite, and provided the executive board with a scalable, predictable financial model to support their ongoing growth trajectory.

Case Study II: Executive Financial Architecture

Retained by an expatriate Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to restructure a highly fragmented, cross-border financial portfolio upon their corporate relocation to Spain.
Two decades of international corporate tenures had generated a disjointed matrix of legacy pensions, investment vehicles, and risk exposures. This cross-border fragmentation created severe administrative drag, resulting in tax inefficiencies and demanding disproportionate oversight from a time-poor executive.
Operating as the executive’s financial adviser, I conducted a comprehensive structural audit of all international assets. I utilized advanced cashflow modeling to map complex, long-term decumulation scenarios and engineered a consolidated, tax-efficient financial architecture optimized for Spanish residency, complete with robust life cover and systemic risk protection.
Eliminated structural complexity and administrative friction. Delivered a unified, risk-adjusted financial framework that provided absolute, data-driven clarity on long-term capital adequacy—allowing the CFO to dedicate their focus entirely to their overarching corporate mandate.

Case Study III: Institutional Capital Architecture & Systemic Risk

Retained to architect the overarching capital capacity model and risk management framework for a multi-billion-pound retirement and equity release division within a major UK life insurer.
Fragmented actuarial silos (capital, retirement, and equity release) were creating critical lags in executive reporting. This structural inefficiency obscured true systemic risk, hindered the CFO’s ability to allocate capital effectively, and stalled the negotiation of high-value commercial bulk deals.
Directed a structural consolidation of three distinct actuarial functions into a unified, capital-effective risk framework. Engineered a highly granular capacity model reporting directly to the executive board, precisely mapping long-term demographic risk against stringent regulatory capital requirements.
Eliminated operational blind spots and secured board-level clarity on systemic risk. This robust architecture enabled the rapid execution of hundreds of millions of pounds in bulk corporate deals, protected enterprise yield, and facilitated the launch of a first-to-market institutional product—all without requiring additional departmental headcount or exposing the balance sheet to unmeasured risk.

Case Study IV: International Proposition Architecture & Market Entry

Retained by the executive board of a tier-one UK life insurer to architect and launch a complex financial product suite for a new startup subsidiary entering the European market.
Expanding into a new regulatory jurisdiction requires building mathematical and commercial architecture from a blank slate. Misalignment between UK head office expectations and local market realities threatened to stall the aggressive launch timeline. Furthermore, cross-border stakeholder management across international directors and local technical teams was highly fragmented.
Operating as the Actuarial Lead for product development, I chaired the cross-border Pricing and Product Development Working Group. I designed the foundational mathematical architecture—including the core investment proposition and bonus-setting methodology—ensuring strict, data-driven alignment between the International Director and the overarching UK actuarial function.
Eliminated cross-border strategic friction and achieved fast-track delivery of all critical project phases. Orchestrated the successful, compliant, and mathematically viable launch of the new product suite, securing a highly profitable commercial foothold in the targeted overseas territory.

C-SUITE FEEDBACK

Mark always gives us options. We love the way he puts things forward. He tells us what the cover is, what it costs, the level of benefits, and that way it’s easier to make an informed choice. Mark and the team anticipate what I might need… saving a huge amount of admin time and freeing us up to focus on core activities.

Mark is an Actuary and also part of a business that provides the security of pre-vetted financial products. These factors, and the time Mark spent getting to know my needs, meant I knew I could trust what he recommended. He is very analytical. He examines things in a clear and thorough way.
